There are several really simple things
you can do to keep your aluminum looking good
1) In service date– we have seen a direct correlation between in service date and the durability of aluminum shine. By placing your aluminum unit in service just after the snow/salt season is over you will find the aluminum creates a “skin” to protect itself from the elements. This is one of the easiest things you can control- And it costs you nothing!
2) Effective cleaning– by avoiding acid washing and keeping the unit clean you will find the unit stays better-looking for a much longer time. Acid washing removes the stains but it creates pits that DO NOT GO AWAY- ever. There are plenty of non-etching cleaners that are very effective at removing grime and retaining shine. We recommend TCI 503
with a high pressure washer (3500 psi or more). Remember to always rinse thoroughly.
3) AlumaClear protective coating- Second to noneAlumaClear or
AlumaWrapis able to protect aluminum effectively for years. We have units that have been treated over 10 years ago that are still being protected
4) Annual polish– if you don’t choose to use theAlumaClear
or AlumaWrapcoating you can have your unit polished annually. It’s not so expensive and it does keep the unit looking great. If you don’t maintain annually you can expect a rapid decrease in the looks of the unit.
